What a fabulous evening!
Dancers,
I had such a wonderful time at Molly Brooke's tonight. It was quite an amazing time - to turn the pub into Ireland, just for a short time. It was bloody fantastic. Thank you all for coming.
If anyone wants to dance next week, Liam's Fancy will be playing at McCarthy's on Thursday night (October 15). I'd love to make our ceili dancing a weekly thing - it truly is making an impression on the fledging Irish diaspora community here in Central Kentucky. Hopefully our adult classes will continue to grow.........
See you all on Tuesday. Thanks for a fabulous night.
Videos for the week:
Here is the ceili dance known as "The Three Tunes," performed by a competitive team from what appears to be the Claddagh School in California. (The girls are in dresses that I believe are the Claddagh School "school dresses" or uniforms).

Here is the same school performing their figure (choreography) at the World Championships 2009 in Philadelphia. It's rather beautiful and incredible. I hope you enjoy it!

Videos of the week!
The Cross Reel (8 hand dance we began to learn two weeks ago), danced by the Ceilidh School of Irish Dancing in Moscow, Russia:

Here is a short documentary film about the Healy School in California. Originally aired in 2003. It gives a good insight into Irish dance competitions, or feisanna (pronounced fesh-ah-na). The styles and the caliber of dancing has changed significantly in the past six years, however! You won't find many dresses like these anymore...
